Princess Mary Superal from the Philippines lead in the Girls Division with even-par 72
Malaysians Low Khai Jei and Paul San share the lead in the 100Plus Malaysian Junior Open after Day 1 carding 1 under 71. Following close at their heels is another Malaysian Mohamad Naqiuddin with score of 2 over 74.
In the Girl's event, Princess Mary Superal of the Philippines leads the field with even par 72, followed closely behind by Malaysian Asha Laksme with 2 over 74. Tied in 3rd place with 4 over 76 are Malaysians Nur Durriyah Damian and Genevieve Ling.
Participants from the Asia Pacific countries take part in this event held at Saujana Golf & Country Club from September 19-21. Other countries besides Malaysia who are taking part in this event are England, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and Korea. A total of 96 juniors are participating in the event with 63 Boys and 33 Girls under 18.
For 100PLUS, the nation's number one isotonic drink, this year's tournament marks the 12th consecutive year the brand has actively supported junior golf in the country.
100PLUS has been a strong supporter of junior golf since 2001 when it initiated the 100PLUS Junior Open. After two years, the tournament was upgraded and became known as the 100PLUS ASEAN Junior Golf Championship (from 2003 to 2005).
Then in 2006, it was upgraded to the 100PLUS Malaysian Junior Open. In just a few years, what started out as a local club event, soon evolved into the country's premier junior competition. The 100PLUS Malaysian Junior Open received further recognition when it was included as an R&A World Ranking Championship for junior competitions by the world body.
