POSITIVE FEEDBACKS FROM JUNIOR CLINIC HELD AT DAMAI LAUT GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB

46 enthusiastic youngsters as young as eight turned up for the Junior Golf Clinic held in conjunction with the 108th Malaysian Amateur Open in Damai Laut Golf & Country Club, Lumut, Perak.

The three-hour clinic was conducted by MGA's resident pros, V.Gunalen and Faridil Atras, and assisted by national coach Duncan Moodie and former national player turned professional Nicholas Fung from Sabah.

The objectives of the clinic include training the newbies on the right postures, grips, fundamental golf swing and short game techniques as well as a brief overview of the Rules of Golf and Etiquette.

YBhg. Datuk Robin Loh, President of MGA and Chairman of National Junior Development Program Sub-Committee and Major Jimmy Ng, the coordinator for MGA State Junior Clinic was at the clinic to give words of encouragement to the participants. Datuk Robin Loh thanked En Badrul from Damai Laut Golf & Country Club for hosting the clinic as well as En Mohd Dah, a teacher from Manjung and En Roseli, Perak MSS Technical Officer for supplying the school children.

"We separated them into groups and evaluated their skills. I'm glad that they are all very eager to learn, and I do see potential in them. I hope the program will keep on going and happy to see the parents are all very supportive of their young ones," said Faridil who added that the participants come from all around the area.

A skill game was conducted after each clinic and this time, Siti Sarah Ramli, Nurul Najihah Abdul Rahim, Mohd Irwan and Saiful Dinie Suhaimi won the game. Each was given a tube of MGA logoed golf balls.

Another clinic will be held at the Royal Selangor Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur next month. The MGA State Junior Clinic is a part of MGA'S effort in unearthing new golfing talents nationwide.
