GAVIN GREEN SHOOTS 69 TO LEAD AT THE OPENING ROUND OF THE 100PLUS

Gavin Kyle Green takes the lead after Day 1

MGA National player, Gavin Green shoots 3-under-par 69 to take the opening round lead as action got underway today at the 100Plus Malaysian Junior Open at Bukit Jawi Golf & Country Resort, Penang.

Another national player, Abel Tam tied second with Thai's Korntawach Julamool with 1-under-par 71, 2 strokes behind the leader. Tied at fourth place are Singaporean’s Johnson Poh and Thai's Somprad Rattansuwan who shot 2-over-par 75.

In the Girl's Division, Paveenuch Sritagul of Thailand shares the lead with Kelly Tan who is currently in the MGA elite squad with 2-over-par 74. At third place is Filipino's Marvi Monsalve with 4-over-par 76.

In the Team's Event, Malaysia leads the field a total combined score of 143. Malaysian's team is represented by Gavin Green and Kelly Tan. Singapore is second with a total combined score of 154. Singapore is represented by siblings, Johnson and Joey Poh.

Conducted by the Malaysian Golf Association, this Championship started back in 1982 with Commercial Union Assurance as the first sponsor. Since 2002, 100Plus has been a great supporter and contributor to the Junior Open. This year, a total of 108 players boys and girls from 11 countries are competing in this 3-day World Amateur Ranking Championship.
