The Maestro Returns

Legendary Norman Von Nida, one of Australia's greatest ever players, returns in November for a two week training stint for our juniors. Sponsored by Credit Corporation of Malaysia Berhad, the Von will be in Malaysia to help our juniors improve.

Von Nida was club professional at the Royal Selangor Golf Club from May 1976 to September 1979 and during this time he coached the Malaysian team to victory in two Putra Cups and almost to victory in the Asian Amateur Team Championship at Kuala Lumpur in 1977.

In his prime Von Nida captured three Australian Opens (1950-1952 1953), four Australian P.G.A. titles and dominated the British golf circuit in the late forties and early fifties. On retirement, Von Nida became one of the world's best and most generous teachers. He has coached many players to success including Gary Player, and only not so long ago turned down Jack Nicklaus' offer to take over Jack Grout's position as Head Coach at Nicklaus' home club, Muirfield Village when Grout passed away.

Von Nida is a good friend of MGA President, Tommy Lee and it was a phone call from Tommy Lee to him which resulted in the Von's most welcome return.
