OBJECTIVES
As
part of an ongoing process to further consolidate the development
of Junior Golf, MGA have set up a National Junior Development
Committee with representatives from the Ministry of Youth and
Sports, Ministry of Education, the National Sports Council, Yayasan
Kecermerlangan Sukan (SportExcel), Golf Clubs, MALGA, the Private
Sector, MPGA and MGA. The Committee is to draw up the Master Plan
for the National Junior Golf Development in Malaysia for adoption
by MGA. The initial aims and objectives of the National Junior
Development Programme are as follows:
1.
To promote and develop golf among children between the ages of
10 to 18 years or younger where appropriate.
2.
To encourage schools, clubs, driving ranges and other golf related
bodies to undertake and implement golf development programmes
for Juniors.
3.
To create a wider base of Junior Players who can become proficient
in the game of golf and represent the country.
4.
To enhance the inter-personal skills required for international
meets to supplement their golf skills so that they can better
represent the Country internationally and excel in the sports.
5.
To provide the opportunity for talented and committed young golfers
to consider making a career out of golf through the programme.
The
above aims and objectives are not finite but expandable, so long
as any addition can further contribute to the growth of Junior
Golf. To ensure that the Master Plan is effectively coordinated
and implemented, MGA will need the services of an experienced
and reputable Coach cum Instructor with proven track record. The
current Sapura-MGA Junior Programme and other Junior Programmes
undertaken by Clubs will continue to form an integral part of
the Overall Master Plan.
